Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in the world of pop music: she was the only superstar to have crossed from country into the mainstream and become a global pop culture icon. Swift left her country roots as though they were part of her skin revealing that she was perhaps the savviest pop-oriented singer/songwriter of her time, one who could harness the zeitgeist make it personal and equally impressively do opposite. Swift's early songs, including the neo tribute to Tim McGraw, showed off her skills. But her 2008 album Fearless showed a singer-songwriter who was discovering herself and gaining a huge following. Fearless became an enormous success not just in America where it's Top Ten singles Love Story and Belong with Me helped it to break six platinum records as well as around the globe. It was a huge success throughout Canada Australia and the U.K. Speak Now delivered almost two years later, which consolidated the popularity and pushed Swift into the stratosphere of fame. Swift's popularity continued to grow with her following three albums - Red (2012) 1989 (2014) as well as Reputation (2017) -- which saw her move into a pop realm where she already belonged. Although she slowed down the production of her folklore album, and Evermore albums in the year 2020, she was nevertheless at the forefront of pop music.
